trying to find year of strait bar frame #d24444
Message:
Recently, my bicycle recycling club came across a couple of extremely heavy-duty tricycles by a company called "Community Bicycles" in Rifton, New York. The frames are made of some kind of heavy steel or iron, the pedals are also heavy metal, and the seat and tail cross bar are made of wood.
These look like they've got to be 50 years old, however, they may also just be very solidly-made because they are made for heavy use, such as in a day care center.
Can anybody tell me anything about these? Mainly, I'd like to know how old they are.
Thanks!

came across a Raleigh Grand Prix art an antique store this weekend - got the completet bike for $5.00 and just trying to determine age /quality/ value for purposes of restoration (i.e., is it worth putting a lot of $$ into). Can't seem to find a serial number that fits into any of the charts out there - the number I found is 358669 on the non-drive side rear dropout. Nice lugs, Normandy hubs/Sturmey Archer rims, Simplex rear der. Suntour Spirt front der., Wrights leather saddle , Weinmann center pulls - frame and fork have Carlton decals and tubing is TBW or something like that manuf by TI (I think that means Reynolds) Any help greatly appreciated -- Would appreciate email replies in addition to posts if at all possible. Thanks!!

On the head tube, under the crank, or on the
left rear dropout. If you don't know what these parts of a bike are,
check Menotomy's vintage bike glossary.

Hello,
Today I rescued a Schwinn New World that was on its way to the scrap yard. Enameled plate on front says "Century" and "Arnold Schwinn". Under the frame, below the crank there is a serial #,K41316. Anyone have any ideas about the vintage, what type of seat and hand grips it had? Tere are two handlebars, I don't know the proper terms to describe them, one is slight sweeping curve, the other more angular, very wide where the grips would be.
Thanks for any help.
